Call for making cancer treatment free
Nagarkot, Oct 13 (RSS):
Minister of State for Health Ram Singh Yadav today inspected the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital. On the occasion, the Minister of State acquired information on the services and facilities available at the hospital which treats around 40 per cent of the country's cancer patients. 
Chairman of the hospital management committee Lokendra Kumar Shrestha and medical director Dr Rishikesh Narayan Shrestha briefed the State Minister regarding the services and facilities available at the hospital. 
The Minister of State saw around all the wards at the hospital and also interacted with the patients anddoctors. He appreciated the hospital for providing quality health care services at a cheaper rate like the government hospitals despite being a community hospital. The hospitalis run with the collaboration of Cancer Relief Society and the locals. 
The Minister of State gave assurances of providing a ventilator and other medical appliances as well as the regular budget to the hospital within the current fiscal year. Hospital management committee chairman Shrestha drew the State Minister for Health's attention to the need of making cancer treatment free citing that it was costly. He said if the cancer treatment could not be made free, the subsidies given to the patients from the economically poor and underprivileged section of society should be raised to at least Rs 500 thousand.
